Ari has proved to be a very good stallion for us. Being our first colt to bring along as a stallion, he kept his stallion status on a day to day basis with his good behavior.
Now as a mature stallion, the same personality is still there. At shows he minds his manners and can hang out at the in-gate around mares without being obnoxious.
His Wharley bloodlines have been wonderful for us. Betty Howe of the Wharley Stud bred the ponies to be riding ponies, specifically leading rein ponies. This meant that the ponies had to |

have a good work ethic in addition to being good kids ponies.
Ari, as are our other two Wharley ponies, is true to the Wharley standard. He is very intellegent, easy to train, and loves working. So far we have seen these traits passed onto our foals.
Unfortuanlly due to USEF rules we cannot have a junior ride him. Otherwise he would make a great kids pony in addtion to being a good stallion and we would have him doing the small pony hunters.

Above: This was Ari's first time jumping around at 2'6" and it was at a show with our hunter trainer Rene Donely who was not used to riding a pony, let alone a little one (I was sick). We had only been schooling 2' to 2'3" at home and the oxers were set big and wide here. He was impressed but willing and ended up 6th and 4th out of a large class. Photo at Right: Kim Cook |
